What do I need to rent a bike?

A valid ID. Whether a deposit or credit card authorisation is required, and how much, is set out in the Happy Wheels terms: https://www.happywheelsbrugge.be/terms. Reservations are not always necessary but recommended in high season.

What cycling routes are there around Bruges?

Six preset GPS routes: Brugge Unlocked (10 km), The Old Tower, The Castle Forests, Damme & Polder Dive (40 km), Forest and Fields and The Sea Breeze Route (55 km). From easy to sporty — there is a level for everyone. The GPS with your route loaded is included.

Is cycling safe in Bruges?

Yes! The center is largely car-free and there are good bike paths. Watch out for cobblestones and pedestrians. Helmets are not mandatory but recommended.

Can I rent an electric bike?

Yes, e-bikes are available at €52 for a full day; a city bike is €32 for a full day. Ideal for longer routes or if you're less fit. Book ahead as they are popular.

Can I cycle with children?

Absolutely! Child seats (front and back), trailer bikes and cargo bikes are available. Ask about family-friendly routes along the water.

How does the GPS device work?

You get a user-friendly GPS device with your chosen route pre-loaded. It shows your position, the route and all the sights along the way. No smartphone needed — it works all day on a single charge. The GPS is included free when you pick a route.

Can I still cycle in the rain?

You can, but we don't really recommend it — especially outside the city it can get windy. If rain is forecast you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours ahead. A rain cover for the panniers is included. Check the weather at buienradar.be.

Can I book bikes for a group?

Yes! Group rates are available on request — get in touch for a tailored quote. Details can be found at https://www.happywheelsbrugge.be/terms.

What if the bike breaks down along the way?

If you break down, call the Happy Wheels helpline — they'll come and help you or bring a replacement bike. Exactly what's covered and what excess applies is set out in the terms: https://www.happywheelsbrugge.be/terms. For a flat tyre you can fix it yourself or give us a call.

Can I rent a bike for several days?

Yes, multi-day rental is possible. Ask Happy Wheels directly for multi-day rates, or check the terms at https://www.happywheelsbrugge.be/terms. Perfect if you're using Bruges as a base for daily rides to the coast, Damme or the Zwin.
